Whenever Goldspot Pens completes the sell-out of a successful exclusive pen design, the office celebrates with a lunch. One of our favorite cuisines to order is Japanese, particularly Wasabi 34 (they have amazing bento boxes with TONS of yummy food). It must have been during one of these lunches that we dreamt of making a fun, sushi pen.

Goldspot collaborated with Retro51 and illustrator Mary Ngai (@maksndraws on Instagram) to make this tasty rollerball pen. Mary's energetic, playful style describes the cute, chibi pieces on the tapered barrel of the Tornado™ Pen. To mimic a sushi roll's nori outer wrapping, the pen was trimmed in glossy black metal clip, trim, and knurled twist top. Since the twist top looks like a small sushi roll, the top disc illustration looks like a heart-shaped piece of tuna with rice around it.

Twisting the knurled top deploys the smooth-flowing capless rollerball ink (in black) to roll out your most whimsical, creative ideas.

The Tornado Sushi Rollerball is limited to 358 numbered pens made in this Goldspot-exclusive edition. The number signifies:

  • 3 = Cuts of Tuna in Japanese Sushi (akami, chutoro, and otoro)
  • 5 = Fundamental Flavors of Japanese Cuisine (sweet, salty, sour, bitter, and umami)
  • 8 = Lucky Number

You won't need a pair of chopsticks to snatch your piece of this Sushi pen. But, you will have to be quick and act before Retro pen collectors and sushi lovers eat this pen up!
